Nomos Ahoi was Nomos’ first and only highly water resistant watch and the first and only model with a screw down crown. This Nomos Ahoi Atlantik watch is a 40mm “beach watch.” It’s not technically a diver, lacking certain features like a unidirectional rotating bezel, but it has the water resistance rating of one at 200 meters.More Nomos Replica Watches.
To make that possible a screw down crown was used, making it just one of four individual models in Nomos’ lineup with this feature. It takes much of the great looks of the Tangente and Tangomat, Nomos’ most iconic designs, with 5 large printed Arabic numerals, and stick hands. Like all Nomoses, the dial is clean and legible. The dial color is probably the most interesting aspect of the new Ahoi. At first its nature seems obvious: a dark gray matte dial. But at certain angles it has an element of a very dark blue to it as well. In fact, it’s officially listed “Atlantik blue,” a feature enhanced by the anti-reflective coating. The green luminescent dots used to accent hour markers are now shiny black indices.
The seconds hand hasn’t changed though–it’s still bright red, contributing to the sporty look. The subdial remains finely textured, with a nice guilloche finish, very naturally separating it from the rest of the dial without the need of a frame. The lume on the Ahoi Atlantik is pleasingly bright. Another rare feature for Nomos used on the Atlantik is an anti-reflective coating. This was probably necessitated by the use of a dark, matte dial which inherently increases glare.
The case remains surprisingly thin for an automatic, particularly for a sporty one such as this. It’s basically a perfectly polished barrel, not unlike the Tangomat. The only big departure from the Tangente and Tangomat cases, like the original Ahoi, is the existence of a crown guard and screw down crown. The strap is super thin, super light, and super breathable. The strap is extremely comfortable, will breathe very easily even in hot weather.
The Epsilon automatic movement was the first movement developed fully in house by Nomos and also their first automatic movement. The movement is adjusted to six positions, a feature that exceeds Swiss COSC requirements and is shared by only a few other elite watchmakers, primarily Grand Seiko and Patek Philippe.
