Tudor Fastrider Chronographs 42010N matching the colors of the iconic Ducati Scrambler motorcycles. Available with dials in yellow, olive green and red, the new Tudor Fastrider Chrono is now fitted with a satin brushed finished stainless steel case —instead of a matte black ceramic case as on the Fastrider Black Shield launched in 2013— with matte black ceramic bezel, stainless steel case back and a gorgeous leather strap or rubber strap with folding clasp with flip-lock with Tudor shield. The case measures in at a diameter of 42 mm in brushed stainless steel. It is cleanly shaped, and executed with purpose. It’s also considerably light on the wrist. For those who desire modern sizing, it’ll definitely wear on the smaller side. The main attraction is the contrast between the bezel and dial. Tudor opted for a ceramic bezel for scratch-resistance, which matches with the PVD pushers/crown and doesn’t conflict with the other finish on the case.
The panda-sub dials harken to an era of utility and legibility, and have recessed centers that add some depth to the piece. Ruthenium hands and faceted hour markers are all luminescent, not surprisingly. The scale around the dial’s perimeter can be slightly difficult to read at times due to the uniform, matter finish, but it isn’t too bothersome. I could have done without the date, but Tudor has placed a quick-set pusher at 9 o’clock that makes it easy enough to shift through the days.
Tudor outfitted the piece with a black leather strap with ripples and gadroons (like those found on leather saddles). It has a soft, calf-like texture that helps the case hug the wrist comfortably.
